For J. Cole fans alike, the absence of the rapper has been weighing heavy on the heart. Aside from a few collaborations, he has been noticeably missing from the music industry. His last album, “2014 Forest Hills Drive” went platinum with no features. Cole unexpectedly announced he would be releasing a new album on Dec. 9th, called “4 Your Eyez Only,” and has grasped the full attention of the rap world due to the fact that his last album was straight fire.

The reason why the word of another album drop was so shocking is because Cole announced in October at NYC’s Meadows Festival that he would not be performing again for “a very long time.”

Cole has already released two singles off his album, “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies.” “False Prophets”  was revealed in order to set the tone for the rest of his album.

“When you do a lead with a song, that song becomes an automatic standout because it’s the first thing they get,” said Cole. “So it’s like it becomes the message or theme.”

“Ego in charge of every move, he’s a star/ And we can’t look away due to the days when he caught our hearts. He’s falling apart but we deny it…” In this tone setting single, Cole seems to call out rapper Kanye West.

These lyrics seem relevant to West, due to the fact that he was recently hospitalized for his paranoia episode at one of his concerts.

Regardless of who this single is calling out, Cole has fans anxiously waiting for Friday, when the album is expected to drop.
