April the giraffe has millions anxiously waiting

Anxious people have been watching April the giraffe for a while now. Anxiously waiting for the 15-year-old giraffe to give birth to her fourth calf, April has captured the hearts of millions of people.

April is from the Animal Adventure Zoo which is located in upstate NY. April’s new calf will be the first calf at the zoo. April’s partner, Oliver, is 5-years-old. This new calf will be Olivier’s first and April’s fourth. The awaited calf is expected to weigh around 150 lb and be at a height of 6-feet tall.

The zoo had set up a live-stream for people wanting to watch the birth, thinking that the giraffe would give birth soon after her due date. However, this did not happen, the live-stream was set up at the beginning of Febuary and April still has not given birth. The zoo is not worried about the delay of the calf. According to zoo officials, it is natural for the labor to take this long.

On Wed., March 15, the workers involved with handling and caring for April noticed strange behavior that had them a little worried. The next morning, they updated watchers by sharing that she had been taken care of and is under careful watch. Her caretakers will continue to monitor her throughout the day.
