Off the Fridge
For many years, the LHS Statesman photographers have captured numerous newsworthy moments. They have gone to great lengths to get that one perfect shot. Photographers tend to get lost in the background but a great photograph is the enhancing element to a news story.
Now, the Statesman photographers will receive more credit for their hard work. The Washington Pavilion is showcasing the work of some of LHS finest photographs in their art gallery, Off the Fridge.
Off the Fridge is an ever-changing exhibit that displays the artwork of area schools, daycares and community programs. Since its start in the fall of ’05, Off the Fridge has displayed over one thousand pieces of children’s artwork. Located on the second floor lobby of the Washington Pavilion, Off the Fridge is open to the public.
“Its great to see all the wonderful photos the Statesman photographers have taken displayed for the community,” said Virginia Olson.
Politics and the Camera, the title of the display, presents photographs captured during events of local and national politics. President Barack Obama, John McCain and Tim Russert, are a few of those individuals that these student photojournalists have photographed. The Washington Pavilion will display these photographs Sept. 1 to Oct. 30.
