Eighth graders visit LHS for the first time

With the end of the year approaching fast, students begin to explore the grade they will enter next year. This became especially important to the eighth graders that will transition to high school next year. Around 500 new students will enter LHS next year and the majority of these students came for a visit this week.

On Wednesday of this week, the students that will enter LHS next year came to visit for the first time. Many students at LHS that are involved in either Student Council or NHS were asked to give tours to these students to ease some of their anxiety they might have because of changing schools and morphing into a larger environment.

The eighth graders filed into our large auditorium, and nearly filled all of the seats, where they listened to presentations on safety, rules, summer reading, JROTC, getting involved and more. Our principles spoke along with teachers and students in order to answer any questions or remove any concerns eighth graders may have about high school. When asked to raise their hands if students had open enrolled, a large amount of students lifted their arms. This shows that LHS is truly the place to be.

A new era  is coming along with these students and it is important for students returning to LHS next year to make them feel welcome and comfortable within the halls. From what I could tell from tours, the eighth graders had  great energy, and will add unique character and qualities to all aspects of our school in the future.
