The LHS boys tennis team made quite a racket this weekend after winning their fourth straight state title and fifteenth overall, the most tennis state titles held by any team in the state. Over the course of the season, the boys obtained a 23-0 record and had a total of 240 points more than the second place team, Rapid City Stevens. After only losing one flight in the singles division, the boys only missed a perfect score by 10 points, but still achieved the highest score ever in the state’s history: 740 points.

Wins were taken at State in multiple categories, senior and University of Minnesota tennis commit, Kaleb Dobbs went undefeated and won the singles bracket in flight one. Sophomore Sam Dobbs took home the first place title for singles in flight two. Senior Aidan DeBoer and junior Arjun Choudhry took first for singles in flights three and four. Junior Graham Leonard took home first in the fifth flight in the singles bracket and freshman Rahul Giri took second in the sixth flight in the singles bracket. The doubles flight one championship was taken home by none other than the dynamic duo of the Dobbs brothers of senior Kaleb and sophomore Sam. The flight two doubles championship was won by senior Aidan DeBoer and junior Arjun Choudhry, and the flight three doubles championship was won by junior Graham Leonard and sophomore Akshay Choudhry. Altogether, the Patriots went to the finals in all nine flights and was able to achieve a first place finish in eight of the nine, along with a second place finish in one.

Not only was this season a winning season, but also a season that will go down in history. Never before in the state of South Dakota has a boy tennis team won 15 state titles, but also as a team almost had close to a perfect score. With hard work, dedication and continued training, who is to say the LHS boys will not win again next year?
