The NBA Finals have been around since 1946 when the Philadelphia Warriors won the first title

Breaking the record for most amount of wins in a regular season, the Golden State Warriors ended their 2015-2016 season with an astonishing 73 wins and nine losses. Talk of yet another championship was present from the beginning of their season which started out with 24 consecutive wins. With all-star players such as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, they are a team the NBA and fans alike have their eye on.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers ending their season at 57 wins and 25 losses, they clinched the number one seed in the Eastern conference by less than a 10th of a point to the Toronto Raptors. All-star players LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are the main leaders of the team and create exciting match-ups for any opponent.

My prediction for the Finals is that these two number one seeds from the East and West conferences will go head-to-head with the Warriors coming out as champions. The Warriors pose a threat to any NBA team and have many versatile players who make it hard to score on and stop from scoring. Even with Curry’s knee and ankle injury, I believe the Warriors will be able to make up for his absence with their other key players by putting Shaun Livingston at the guard position. As long as Curry is present for part of the conference finals (most likely against the San Antonio Spurs), the Warriors still have their chance to get back to back titles. Along with the various talents of the players, the coaching staff deserves recognition. Head coach Steve Kerr was a close second to Hawks’ Mike Budenholzer in winning coach of the year for last season, and this year he took the crown and was awarded the 2015-2016 coach of the year. Kerr’s ability to make adjustments based on personnel of the opponent shows off his coaching ability, thus making his team successful.

A Warriors, Cavs match-up would create an exciting Finals for the conclusion of the 2015-2016 season. The guard and post personnel between each team create an intense style of basketball which should create an action-packed series final.
