EgyptAir plane MS804 missing
May 19, 2016
Another plane has vanished. EgyptAir Flight 804 enroute Paris to Cairo went missing on the morning of May 19, 2016. There were 66 people onboard the aircraft including three children, two of them were infants. Investigations have been opened to find the cause of the disappearance and to locate the bodies of the passengers.
The last communication between the pilots and the air traffic controllers was in the vicinity of Kea, a Greek island. The flight was under control and nothing seemed to be going wrong. At 2:27 a.m., pilots did not respond to Greek air traffic control who were trying to switch them over to Egyptian air traffic control. Officials do not know why there was no response.
Once the plane reached Cairo by air, the the airbus changed position 90 degrees to the left followed by a 360 degrees shift to the right. When Greek air traffic control lost signal, the plane had descended around 17,000 feet. When the aircraft vanished, it was cruising. Cruising is one of the safest components of a flight’s journey.
Officials are stating that the plane most likely crashed and that the reasons behind it was terrorism. Although, there were no security issues, there is speculation that the aircraft did not simply fall out of the sky especially with calm weather. The wreckage has been found, and will be used to understand the time of impact and to narrow the search. It is a difficult task when the water is 4,000 meters in depth. Now the countdown to find the black box has begun. The black box is a flight recorder that contains data of the accident. There is an “airline official: passengers have ‘perished.’” U.S. government officials are theorizing that it could be a bomb. However, no claims have been made by any major terrorist groups. Regardless, thoughts and prayers goes out to the families who are going through a tough time.
