Throughout this fall season, LHS sports have prevailed and also failed. But one team has raised quite the racket on their undefeated season. Over the course of the year, the LHS girls tennis team had a 31-0 record and to top it all off, 646 points at the state tournament in Rapid City, ultimately getting 64 more points than the second place Rapid City Stevens. The Patriots knew that a perfect season was just in their grasp and with their determination and hard work they were able to achieve it.

With wins at state in multiple categories, junior Emily Whitney and eighth grader Johana Brower were undefeated and won for the singles bracket in flight four and flight five. Another winner in the singles bracket was Ava Leonard, an eighth grader, who was in flight three. Second place singles winners included senior Sidney Brower in flight one, junior Meredith Benson in flight two and senior Brooke Lovrien in flight six. And last but not least, Doubles winners included the dynamic duo of senior Brooke Lovrien and junior Emily Whitney in flight three. Overall the Patriots went to the finals in eight of the nine flights and claimed the first place finishes in flights three, four and five as well as flight three in doubles.

Overall, due to the strong performances throughout the season and at the state tournament, the LHS tennis team was able to show what they were truly made of and put their hard work and team effort on display.
