Questions and Answers
- What made you interested in fashion/thrifting and selling clothing to other people?
I first started thrifting when I was in 8th grade and I never really started selling it until freshman year, what made me start selling is I saw there was money behind it and there are a ton of people that also sell and other stores that re-sellers have made.
- Are you planning to use your love of fashion/thrifting in the future?
I really don’t know but I will continue to do it throughout the rest of high school and see where it takes me from there.
- What is your thrifting business called and where can people find it?
I have an Instagram that is @_thrift_heat_ and I also have a website 605-Thrift Heat
605thriftheat.com
- What inspired you to make this small “business”?
Thrifting is something I find fun and it takes some of my free time and I was seeing other people that make money by thrifting and because I already thrifted for fun I thought it would be smart to make it something that will bring me money
- What type of clothing do you sell?
I sell almost everything, from mens to womens. I carry a ton of different brands,
- How do you go about finding the clothing you sell?
I usually try to find more popular brands (Tommy Hilfiger, Polo RL, Nautica, Chaps RL, Nike, etc.) and also more of the unique older styled items.
- What is different about buying clothing from you, rather than just going and thrifting it for yourself?
When you go to a thrift store and get it you look through a lot more clothes and its harder to find stuff you might like, when I already go through the stores and get the named brand stuff and the items I think are worth something and put them on my site. Also, it is different because through the site you can search for items so it makes it a lot easier to find what you would like.
- Have you seen a lot of business/what are your goals?
For right now my goal is just to make a sale a day. It’s nothing really big, but still a goal.
- Is it easy to find things to to sell?
Yes and no, sometimes there are days where you won’t find a thing and others you will find a ton. It just depends on how much you look at and how many stores you go to.
- What is the hardest part about having a small “business”?
I would say making sure everyone’s orders are shipped and shipped to the right pace.
- How do you go about actually selling your clothing? How do you use social media or other platforms to do this?
I mainly sell my clothes threw my website, when people order if they are out of town I will ship it to them. If you live here in Sioux falls you are able to either meet me or I will drop it off, you are welcome to order or pay cash. I also sell on depop and then have a instagram I post people in the clothes I actually sell for more people to see it.
