Netflix’s November Christmas
November 19, 2020
Christmas lovers, get excited because it looks like the holidays are already here. We are only a week into November and Netflix has already begun releasing their whirlwind of Christmas Movie titles for 2020. These never-before-seen Netflix originals shake it up from your traditional house-hold names like “Elf” or “The Santa Clause” trilogy and are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.
The earliest premiere date was surprisingly even before Halloween on Oct. 28, 2020. “Holidate” stars Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey who play Sloane and Jackson. The two despise the holidays because they always find themselves single at festive family and friend gatherings. However, one year they decide enough is enough and agree to be each other’s “holidate” for every upcoming celebration during the next year, not just Christmas. They assure themselves the agreement is strictly a business deal, no romantic feelings involved at all. However, viewers will be entertained as they watch Sloane and Jackson become closer throughout the year as they discover “sharing everything they hate may just prove to be something they unexpectedly love.”
Netflix’s countless movie drops will also include many sequels, one being, “The Princess Switch: Switched Again.” This previous fan-favorite will once again be starring Vanessa Hudgens, Sam Palladio and Nick Saga and will premiere on Nov. 19, 2020. The story follows Duchess Margaret who suddenly inherits the throne to Montenaro while on the outs with her boyfriend, Kevin. Margaret’s doppelganger, Stacy, who became a princess herself in the last movie, sets on a mission to get her look-alike and best friend back together. However, this holiday romance is quickly put in jeopardy as a new handsome royal arrives, planning to steal Margaret’s heart. This film will surely keep watchers on the edge of their seats through the many charming twists and turns.
“Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square” is another title that is much anticipated. Its release date is currently set at Nov. 22, 2020, and stars, you guessed it, Dolly Parton. Not only does it feature 14 original songs with music and lyrics by her, but Parton also plays an angel who helps a rich and conceited woman find her way back to her small-town roots. After Regina Fuller plans to evict everyone in her hometown in order to sell the land to a mall developer right before Christmas, everyone tries to stop the madness. The evil woman starts to have a change of heart after listening to stories from the locals and reconnecting with an old love. This heartwarming movie about family, love and Christmas spirit is the perfect choice for a holiday pick-me-up.
Out of Netflix’s whopping 27 Christmas movies and TV shows being released this holiday season, everyone is sure to find a film they love. From the talented actors to the touching storylines, these three titles, along with countless others already on the streaming platform, will no doubt bring a little Christmas cheer to your November.
