From basketball shorts and Aeropostale sweatshirts, to Nike legging and lots of makeup. Freshman year to senior year has changed me a lot not only on the outside, but also on the inside. These past four years have held so many changes for me and most of them were for the better.

Freshman Bella was a very different Bella than the one that walks the halls today. Upon entering the halls four years ago I was a shy but sarcastic teenager with no idea of what to expect. Today I am an outgoing, sarcastic person with at least a little bit of wisdom under my belt. I am thankful for the time and lessons I’ve learned here, but also more than ready to leave.

I used to be beyond clueless of my surroundings, and now I am constantly paying attention to the outside world, instead of just paying attention to the things going on only in my life.

Things I thought I knew as a freshman:

  • Partying makes you cool.
  • High school matters a lot.
  • Other people’s opinion matter.
  • High school is really hard.
  • If you aren’t “popular” no one will know you.
  • Football and basketball games don’t matter.
  • You have to be friends with everyone.
  • These will be the best four years of your life.

Things I know now:

  • Do what you think is fun, not what everyone else thinks.
  • In the end who you were in high school won’t matter in the future.
  • School is only hard if you make it hard.
  • It doesn’t matter how “popular” you are, all that matters is that you have good friends.
  • All school events are important, that’s where you make memories that will last a lifetime.
  • You don’t have to be friends with everyone, but you should make an effort to talk to and acknowledge everyone.
  • High school is a great time, but it’s only going up from here.
