The LHS tennis team was ranked #1 entering this season, and they proved their ranking right after winning the metro conference this past weekend. Led by the Dobbs brothers, numbers one and two at LHS, they were able to defend their state championships with a metro conference win, hoping that they can carry that over to the state tournament in a couple weeks.

Coming into the season, Kaleb Dobbs had high hopes for this season. Being the number one tennis player in the state, the standards were not to be lowered for the junior and his freshman brother.

“I did think we were going to win because I knew we would remain heavy at the top and the people that would be replacing the seniors we lost last year were more than ready to win at their respective flights,” said Kaleb.

Being the metro conference champions puts the LHS tennis team in a very good position for the state tournament. They will enter with hopes of being state champions for three years in a row.

“I feel very confident about the state tournament because we have played and beaten up on pretty much every team in the state, and I think we are very prepared to win come state championship time,” said Kaleb.

The Dobbs brothers have played together for so long that they are now used to playing with and relying on each other come game time.

“It doesn’t make it that much more special just because my brother is also on the team,” said Kaleb. “But I know all the hard work him and I have put in to be where we are, so when we compete we both have a lot of confidence in each other that we will show up when we need to.”
