On May 10, 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders won the W. Va. primary and presumed Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump won both primaries in W. Va. and Neb. Sanders won 51.4 percent to fellow Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s 35.8 percent, winning him 18 delegates.Trump swept all 66 available delegates in the two primaries.

Trump’s message has remained the same, he says he is here to “Make America great again.” When confronting delegate count in the race, Sanders is reluctantly, but humbly realistic it being that Clinton leads him with 2,240 delegates to Sanders’ 1,473. Though, when addressing the general election, Sanders is establishing his candidacy as the best weapon against Trump. Sanders is not wrong either – according to Real Clear Politics, Sanders wins by 50 percent against Trump while Clinton only wins by 47 percent. Sanders remains optimistic that the Democratic National Convention coming up in July will be a positive turning point in his own campaign.

Clinton has been cutting back on ads and campaigning in terms of finances in effort to save funds for the general election. Sanders is seizing this opportunity to campaign across the country and attract more potential voters. Sanders will be holding a campaign rally in Sioux Falls, SD on May 12, 2016 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
