Sit back, relax and get ready for summer

Madison Landon, Staff Writer

While 20 days left of school before summer seems like an eternity for some students, it will go by fast because the next four weeks will be filled with semester test reviews, open houses and students anxious for summer. Before long, the seniors will graduate and head off to their new lives in college, and the juniors will enjoy their last summer of high school as best they can. So often summer days get wasted by passing up opportunities to make memories with friends and family, so this year we should do our best to make it memorable.

Summer should be filled with many different activities and never-ending opportunities. From bonfires and late nights to swimming and sun tanning by the pool, this next summer is going to be a good one. Now that the school district pushed back the start date, the weather should still be nice and warm for all the lake-goers who hoped the new date would give more opportunity to spend time skiing and tubing.

For all of the juniors turning seniors, this summer will also be a time for many to start thinking about what to do after high school if they haven’t already. It will be the first time we can apply to the colleges we like, and we can take as many visits as we want until we find the place we will soon call home. For some, though, it will be a time to avoid the college question and just enjoy three months of no homework, teachers or tests.

Summer break is a good time to relax, have fun and take naps. The memories we will make will last us a long time, so it is up to all of us to make the best of our time. Don’t pass up on opportunities to share time with friends and family because when school starts up again in September, there should not be any regrets.
