LHS Theatre presents…
September 20, 2016
The verdict is in! LHS theatre will be presenting the highly acclaimed musical “Pippin.”
Amanda Nelson, LHS theatre and English teacher, will direct and choreograph the show.
“I’m excited for the challenge of such a celebrated show,” said Nelson. “From the vocal dynamics to unique instruments to creative movement and spectacle, every aspect of “Pippin” will give us a chance to be imaginative.”
“Pippin” is a highly energetic musical with eccentric tricks, choreography and characters. According to MTI, this unconventional play not only breaks the fourth wall, but flies through it with breath-taking acrobatics.
The show follows Pippin, a young prince who is looking for happiness, and is narrated by Lead Player, a conniving, yet whimsical character that strives to entertain.
After years of schooling, Pippin ponders the purpose of life and longs for fulfillment. On his trek, he encounters many unique characters and overcomes some interesting obstacles. He powers through a war, only to become lost after he takes a man’s life. Yet, he charges through to discover love and all that it entails. Despite his high-stakes journey, though, he discovers that true joy is found not in the ridiculous and extreme, but in everyday life.
The play consists of two acts and has many musical numbers. “Pippin” has seen many stages throughout it’s life, including two Broadway productions, a London production and myriad high school productions.
The cast for this show will require a more diverse talent set than the average production. “Pippin” needs LHS to come together with actors and actresses, technical artists, orchestra students, dancers, vocalists, gymnasts and much more! Performances will be held April 25th through April 29th in the LHS auditorium. Stay tuned for audition dates!
