The iPhone 7 release means a new update for the older generation iPhones. The most extensive change for the iOS 10 update is a huge enhancement to iMessages that was long overdue. Along with the update in text message communication, is a new notification layout, a new organization to the camera roll, big changes for Apple Music and better technology for the Maps application. The changes to the iPhone software truly update the experience of communicating on every user’s most frequently used application, text message.

Messaging changed drastically for the user within the half hour it takes to update. Emotions are much easier, and more fun, to express when having the option to send digital messages, handwritten messages and animations. The emojis changed to look more like Samsung animations which is a criticism for the update, but now the iPhone will detect words in your text messages and gives the option to tap to replace with emojis. Communication is also easier and less time consuming with the tapback reply option. The iPhone now allows you to reply to a text message with a series of animations like thumbs up, thumbs down, heart and others. Overall, the update changes the iMessage experience completely by giving more options to make expressions more obvious.

Text messaging is the most popular way to communicate especially for the younger generations. The iOS 10 update allows for iMessages to become creative, unique to the user and altogether a more amusing experience. Many other aspects of the iPhone received necessary improvements to layout and technology but iMessages derived the most impactful update.
