LHS food drive results

Sidney Brower, Staff Writer

LHS ended this year’s food drive with a BANG! Numbers were totaled and reported to have grown drastically since the previous years.

“We basically doubled the amount of money and food given as compared to last year and it all goes to Feeding South Dakota,” said administrator Don Ryswyk.

The entire school worked hard to achieve such great results from the food drive, especially the Patriot Pride Committee.

“We did a lot more advertising this year,” said LHS committee member and teacher Katie Kroeze. “We had a student make a video, we went into ad-rooms every day to remind students and we gave daily updates on the announcements.”

All of this effort went towards supporting the Feeding South Dakota organization. Feeding South Dakota is a hunger relief organization and they are fighting daily to eliminate hunger in the state. With the help of LHS, they can continue to fight hunger and give help to people in need.

All ad-rooms that participated had the opportunity to win an ice cream sundae party, Tuesday, Dec. 13, if they collected over 200 points or more. The first place ad-room received a pizza party, Wednesday, Dec. 14 and the second place ad-room earned Flyboy donuts, Thursday, Dec. 15. With such great rewards who would not want to join the fun?

The final results were separated by top ad-rooms and the second place ad-rooms for each grade level.

Top Ad-rooms:

9th- J. Sickler

10th- K. Oskar-Groen

11th- S. Waagmeester

12th- L. Thomason

2nd Place Ad-rooms:

9th- J. Dubois

10th- S. Winterscheidt

11th- T. Wells

12th- J. Martin

The entire school deserves to be congratulated on their outstanding participation in helping support Feeding South Dakota. Let LHS learn from this year and make next year even better!

The Patriot Pride Committee helps Feeding South Dakota load up all the food that was collected by students throughout the week.
