Michaela Mohr has been an LHS gymnast since seventh grade. Once in high school, she participated in soccer, gymnastics and track. Mohr has always been an outstanding athlete in the multiple sports she takes part in and she pushes herself to the limit with a smile on her face.

Her success and commitment to gymnastics is admirable. She has not missed a season even with injuries being a major restriction by keeping her out of her fall season of soccer.

“Michaela doesn’t see an obstacle as a barrier, but instead, she sees it as an opportunity to overcome,” said Assistant Gymnastics Coach Rebecca Mager. “Injury, frustration, distraction- these things don’t influence her success; she works hard for everything she has in gymnastics, soccer and track.”

Mohr brings more to the team than talent. Although widely successful this season and in seasons past, Mohr views the sport from a team perspective instead of focusing just on individual prosperity.

“We don’t have seniors on the team this year,” said Mager. “Michaela is our ‘senior.’ She gets them organized and demonstrates excellent leadership qualities.”

Recently, Mohr scored a 9.2 at a meet at OGHS winning the floor category due to her hard work at practice. Mohr’s focus will surely be followed with achievement as her and her teammates continue push themselves in order to qualify for state gymnastics.

“Our goals as a team are to qualify for state and I think we can as long as we work hard because we have a lot of young talent on our team,” said Mohr. “Individually, I compete floor, vault and beam and my goal is to qualify on all of those and so far I just qualified for vault and I will most likely qualify on the other two.”
