The new year has brought along with it many outstanding movies in perfect timing for the Oscar nominations. As these nominations have just been released, many new movies are expected to win their nominations. Highly anticipated film, “La La Land,” has exceeded the expectations of many in the theater. Lead actors in the movie, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, have had enough experience in acting that the two put together created an outstanding film.

Already racking up a ton of awards, “La La Land” received a ranking of 8.7/10 on rotten tomatoes, which is outstanding considering they seem to be hard to please. At this years Oscars, “La La Land” is nominated for the Best Picture film. Gosling and Stone are each nominated for their own, as Gosling is nominated for Best Actor and Stone is nominated for Best Actress.

Going up against this hit movie is “Arrival,” which is nominated against “La La Land” for Best Picture. “Arrival” received a rating of 8.2/10 on rotten tomatoes, coming in close behind their competition. The director of “Arrival,” Dennis Villeneuve, has also been nominated for Best Director, up against “La La Land’s” director Damien Chazelle. Many await to see which films will top others in the trek for the highly sought after award, the Oscar.
