Teams getting ready for a spring training game

Oliver Lockwood-Powell, Staff Writer

Baseball is back and fans are ecstatic. It has been a whopping 105 days since baseball fans have seen a live game. The 2016 MLB World Series was on Nov. 2 and since then, people have been waiting up until now. Spring training is starting up and players are ready to work and put on a show for anyone willing to watch.

For many, many years, baseball has been either America’s game or America’s pastime. The sport seems to have no end in the near future and the crowd just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The bigger the crowd means more antsy fans waiting for the regular season to start, but the sight of spring training being here is almost as good. Fans get to see a glimpse of their favorite teams and get a good outlook on what the season is going to look like.

Not only is it a time for fans to see their set teams, but fans also get to see the bigger picture. They are able to look into the future while they evaluate their up-and-coming prospects and draft picks. Because the pre-season does not count toward the actual record of the team, teams are able to show fans what their future is made of, along with getting extra live game practice against other up-and-coming stars and established vets in the league.

During the season the script officially starts to get written. The road to the last chapter of the book starts in the spring and ends in the fall, but the time in between is a chunk of heaven for ball fans around the globe.
