Fine Arts Student of the Week: Claire Carlson
March 30, 2017
LHS is an exemplary school for the arts, whether it be painting, drawing, band, choir or even pottery. With a variety of programs offered, students can join, learn and excel in their area.
There are multiple students at our school that deserve to be recognized for their hard work and effort. This week we are acknowledging one exceptional fine arts student who stuck out, senior Claire Carlson.
“Over the years here at LHS, Claire has participated in many of our choirs and select ensembles,” said vocal director Linda Conrad. “Currently, Claire is a member of Chamber Singers and Concert Choir which are the two most select groups here at LHS.”
A person with such high accomplishments must be willing to put in the time and effort to succeed.
“Claire is a very talented, sweet person and has a super strong work ethic,” said Conrad. “She is very positive and contributes a warm quality to whatever group she is apart of.”
Positivity and determination are admirable qualities, but Carlson possesses even more. She knows how to put herself out there and show everyone what all of her work was for.
“Claire is very reliable and has consistently shown throughout the years her dedication to our program,” said Conrad. “She has participated in our musicals here at LHS and has also been a member of All-State Chorus and SD Senior Honor Choir.”
Being a participant of choir has allowed her not only improve her singing, but also compete.
“Claire has participated in the SD Region II Solo and Ensemble Contest many times during her high school career and received many superior ratings,” said Conrad. “She is truly an outstanding fine arts student and we are very proud to have her in our program.”
