The swimwear company Sunny Co Clothing posted a promotion on Instagram promising that anyone who shared their picture would receive a free swimsuit in their popular Pamela Sunny Style. The suit originally retailed for $64.99 on Sunny Co’s website. It sounded too good to be true, but thousands of girls, including me, reposted just in case. I mean, who does not want a cute, free swimsuit just in time for summer?

The post on Sunny Co’s page alone got over 338,000 likes. The photo gained so much popularity, people were posting it on other forms of social media other than just Instagram. In fact, according to the Sunny Co Clothing website, Instagram blocked their page. In a Q and A section of their website someone asked: “Why is the Instagram account gone?” To that they responded: “We did not delete our Instagram account. Instagram blocked our account and we are doing everything we can in order to get it back up and running.”

The biggest question is, did anyone actually get the swimsuit? Sunny Co was so overwhelmed by the popularity of the post, and ended up posting another picture saying they have the “right to cap the promotion if deemed necessary.” Some people did end up getting the suit, but they had to pay $12 for shipping and handling. All you had to do was use the code “SUNNY” at checkout, and you would receive the promo. The company messed up though, and they charged some people full price for the swimsuit. They posted on their website promising that those who paid full price would receiving a full refund.

All in all, the swimsuit was not really free. No one actually needed to repost it because anyone could get a hold of the code and this showed how desperate all girls are for a cute new swimsuit.
