Just a few weeks after Samsung’s announcement, Apple steps up to reveal their new lineup of products. With the release of the Apple Watch 3, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, Apple is packing up a punch for the 10th anniversary of their iPhone line.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are slight upgrades from last years models. The camera on the 8 Plus has portrait mode with portrait lighting, a 12MP camera with optical image stabilization and the highest video capture quality in a smartphone to date. However, both models have an improved retina screen, a true tone display, stereo speakers and wireless charging. Augmented reality is a new technology that allows the user to see displayed information on the screen similar to the app Sphere.

While all of the other announcements were huge for Apple, their biggest, most awaited was the iPhone X.

“The iPhone X, it’s the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.

The technology that is used in the iPhone X is top notch, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

“The display fits edge to edge and top to bottom,” said Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Apple. “It goes into each corner where it falls into the tight curve design.”

When Apple releases anything, the company makes sure their spin on the technology is unique and works really well.

“The retina display uses OLED technology,” said Schiller. “But the super OLED technology overcomes all these deficiencies, and suprasses all that we expect from an iPhone display.”

Touch ID and Iris Scanning have been around for a few years to secure the user’s phone. Now the future technology takes it a step further.

“The dot projector projects over 30,000 invisible IR dots to create a mathematical model of your face to see if it’s a match to unlock your phone,” said Schiller.

The future of smartphones is here today, and Apple is leading the new generation of inventions. Pre-orders for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will begin on Sept.15 and the iPhone X preorders will begin on Oct. 27, with shipping to begin Nov. 3.
