Reasons to be thankful

As the holiday season is approaching, it is important to think about the things and people that you are thankful for. With the brisk fall season, comes school, sports and many other added stressors, so it is easy to get distracted, saying “leaf me alone,” instead of being grateful.

Because it can be challenging to focus on one’s personal blessings, it may be helpful to get an insight into other LHS students’ perspectives, so they can connect them to one’s own life.

When overwhelmed with hours upon hours of homework and studying, it is easy to take for granted how lucky students are to have the ability to go to school.

“I am thankful for my health and education, because kids in other places do not have the chance to go to school, which is really sad,” said sophomore, Peyton Johnson.

While sitting in a monotonous class, with two best friends chatting endlessly next to them, one may begin to feel alone, or that they have no one to talk to.

“I am thankful for my friends because sometimes I take for granted that I always have people that are there for me and who bring me up,” said sophomore, Kate Sargent.

When thinking about who one is thankful for, be sure not to forget the adults who dedicate a lot of their time to the success of students, athletes and musicians.

“I am thankful for my cross country and track coach, Eric Pooley,” said sophomore, Salter Dixon. “He is a talented running man who works very hard and encourages me to improve.”
