Volleyball update

The LHS volleyball team is approaching the end of their regular season games, and they have experienced their fair share of victories as well as losses leading up to this point. So far this year, the team has won 11 games and lost 13.

As for the rest of the season, the volleyball team has high expectations for their last three regular season games. Following those games they have one playoff game guaranteed, then it is all up to them to determine the rest of the season.

When looking back on their successes this season, something that has helped them immensely is how close nit of a team they are.

¨I think one of the main contributors to our success is working as a team and bonding,¨ said sophomore, Lexi Herr. ¨One thing our coach tells us is ‘play for the person next to you’ and when we have this mindset it helps us.¨

As for the losses, it is important to look at the aspects of the game that the team struggled with as a whole, and learn from those mistakes.

¨This season, one difficulty we have had is finishing. As we tend to go to 5 sets and sometimes not get it done,¨ said Herr. ¨We’ve had our moments of hard losses but go into practice the next day working harder and ready to bounce back.”

The volleyball team is hoping to “serve” their opponents some losses as they do their best to earn a spot in the state tournament Nov. 16-18.

“I believe that this team has so much potential and we can go a long way, as long as we show that ability,” said Herr. “I’m excited to see how it all plays out and what great things we do.”
