Thanksgiving: The forgotten holiday
November 3, 2017
Halloween 2017 is over, meaning the winter holidays are close approaching. Stores everywhere are pulling out the Santa’s and Christmas trees, skipping the holiday in between: Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is the most humble of the holidays. No, there are no presents, rather plenty of time spent with loved ones. Overlooking this holiday is overlooking the chance to be thankful for our lives and the people we share them with. It is a chance to tell them how thankful we are for all that we are blessed with. Before we pass up on this opportunity, here are some reasons why Thanksgiving deserves part of the holiday hype:
Family and friends: Thanksgiving is a day to spend with loved ones enjoying the time spent together. Having a meal, catching up and remembering old times is the perfect way to spend the day.
Food: The best part of the day. Turkey, potatoes, stuffing and pie. All of these perfect foods that we wait all year to enjoy. This is a time where we can eat as much as we want and not feel bad about taking that extra piece of pumpkin pie. Plus, who does not love the turkey sandwiches the day after?
Parade: The Macy’s day parade is fun for the whole family. Kids can enjoy the fun floats and balloons, and Parents can enjoy the celebrity performances in between. This parade is the perfect way to start of the holiday.
Black Friday: After the big meal, search through all the catalogs to find the best deals around Sioux Falls. Waiting in line may suck, but the deals you can find make it all worth the hassle.
This year, do not miss the chance to count all your blessings. We should all be thankful for Thanksgiving.
