For the past 57 years Millie Wall has experienced all the emotional toll and heartbreak that comes with being a Minnesota Vikings fan. From many missed game winning field goals to last second losses, Wall has seen it all. Despite this, she has remained loyal to the team and organization since it was first established in 1961.

Wall, who turns 100 on July 4, was in attendance for the Vikings most recent playoff game against the Saints last weekend. She was invited by the team to come watch. She was accompanied by her granddaughter, Ashley, and the two had a great time. Little did they know both of them were watching what some say was the game of a lifetime.

Down by two with 25 seconds left, the Vikings received the ball. They needed a miracle to win the game. The first couple of plays they ran wasted much of the clock and they were left with around ten seconds for one to two more plays. They were out of field goal range, so Viking’s quarterback Case Keenum threw a lob pass up to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs caught the ball in the air and the Saints defender missed the tackle. The whole field was open ahead of Diggs. He ran into the end zone, scoring the game winning touchdown with no time remaining. The stadium went crazy, people are calling the play “The Miracle in Minnesota.” The touchdown allowed Minnesota to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Wall’s attendance at the game did not go unnoticed. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had heard about her story and offered to pay for her to come watch the Super Bowl if the Vikings make it that far.

To possibly witness the Vikings win their first ever Super Bowl title would be the ultimate 100th birthday present Wall could receive.
