Being the shadow

My entire life I have been an older sister to my little brother Cole, as well as a younger sister to my brother Caiden. Although we all get along, sometimes it is easy to feel overlooked when you have a super cool older sibling.
As a freshman student at LHS, I am already at the bottom of the food chain. The real question is, does having a really hip older sibling at the same school push me further down on the chain or does their awesomeness give me a glimmer of hope for the future?
Personally, I think it does both. Someone will always be asking me if I am Caiden Capaldo’s sister, but is that honestly so bad? I cannot change how my brother acts, nor do I want to, but I do have the choice on how to react when someone asks me if I am the sister of Caiden Capaldo. I can respond with a cheerful “YES!” or I can respond with an annoyed “yes”.
Anna Dekkenga, a fellow student of LHS, also has an older sister who is a very prominent person in the school.
“Lucy (Anna’s older sister) is involved in a lot of things,” said Anna. “So sometimes I feel like I have pressure on me because I have a lot to live up to.”
Dekkenga feels the exact same way that I do. That could be because our older siblings are somewhat similar in their personalities. Both people are extremely nice to everyone, including us.
“I’m super proud of Anna,” said Lucy Dekkenga. “I do not like to compare myself to her because we are both so different. We are best friends, but sometimes we bash heads because we are both stubborn.”
As a younger sibling, I look up to my older brother. I hope that when my little brother comes to LHS he can look up to me as a super cool older sibling, just like how I look up to Caiden.
