KELOLAND journalist, Dan Santella, is a muppet fanatic. He has loved the muppets from a young age and ever since he still adores them.

The Muppets is a kid tv/movie franchise that made family-friendly shows with puppets including, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, The Swedish Chef, Beaker and many more. The Muppets were first created over 60 years ago and are still making movies today. Kermit is one of Santella’s favorite muppet.

“I like Kermit, he is a reporter. The Swedish Chef is great. Statler and Waldorf, two old guys who just making fun of everyone, its kinda hysterical, and now I’m kinda liking Fonzie. A lot of answers there we’ll go with Kermit as my short,” said Santella.

Santella, in the years before KELO, would shave all of the hair on his head. Santella now has slightly long hair that is able to be put up. Santella usually has a bit of hair on his lip, which makes people wonder with his Muppets adoring, has he ever tried to grow a mustache like the Swedish Chef in the Muppets?

“I can’t grow a beard, I couldn’t. If I came to work with like stubble real stubble, I’m feeling, I didn’t know how to do that,” said Santella.

The Muppets have made many movies, about 10. The movies are spread out to about one every few years, the longest apart being eight years. Santella, being the Muppet adorer, has one.

“I have a real soft spot for the ‘Christmas Carol’, but there are a lot of good movies,” said Santella.

Beaker is a staple for the Muppet community. He is a muppet that does not talk, but just makes noises. He is usually paired with another muppet, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, so it is not just him making noises. Beaker is a shy muppet that only makes beep and meep noises. So it asks the question, how well is the adorer’s impersonation?

“Poor, and I’m not going to do it. He’s another one that I like. I’m not doing a beaker impression,” said Santella.
