In the midst of the Supreme Court confirmation process, a woman from nominee, Brett Kavanaugh’s past has come forward saying that she was sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh in high school.

Back in July, Christine Blasey Ford wrote a letter to Dianne Feinstein, a senior Democratic lawmaker and California Senator claiming that she was sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh at a high school party. In her letter, Ford alleges that a drunk Kavanaugh and friend, Mark Judge brought her to a bedroom during a party where Kavanaugh pinned her against the bed, attempted to remove her clothing and groped her over her clothes while grinding his body against hers. At the time of the alleged incident, Ford was 15-years-old and Kavanaugh was 17-years-old. Ford claims that when she tried to scream for help, Kavanaugh put his hand over her mouth. Ford says that she escaped the situation she was in because Judge jumped on top of her and Kavanaugh and she was able to run away and lock herself in a nearby room.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” said Ford according to the Washington Post. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”

Kavanaugh has adamantly denied all allegations that Ford has made against him, even going as far as telling the media that he was not even at the party Ford describes.

“I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation,” said Kavanaugh according to NBC News. “I did not do this back in high school or at any time.”

Judge has also backed his high school friend before even knowing who the accuser was saying that Kavanaugh would not do anything remotely close to what he was accused of.

“It’s just absolutely nuts,” said Judge according to the Washington Post. “I never saw Brett act that way.”

With this uprise of rumors swirling around Kavanaugh’s name, not yet proven true or false, many politicians have supported the idea of Ford and Kavanaugh testifying in front of the Judiciary Committee to hear each side of the story.

Susan Collins, a Republican Senator from Maine has already taken to Twitter to voice what she believes should be done in the situation that has arisen.

“Professor Ford and Judge Kavanaugh should both testify under oath before the Judiciary Committee,” said Collins on Twitter.

President Trump, the person who chose Kavanaugh to replace retiring judge Anthony M. Kennedy as the next Supreme Court Justice has made it clear that he is open to delaying the process in order to make sure that Kavanaugh is confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice of the U.S.

“Judge Kavanaugh is one of the finest people that I’ve ever known. He is an outstanding intellect and outstanding judge respected by everybody. Never had even a little blemish on his record,” said President Trump according to CNN. “If it takes a little delay, it’ll take a little delay.”

The most recent update in the situation that has unfolded is that Ford has now requested an FBI investigation before she testifies in front of the Judiciary Committee. Ford is prepared to talk with the Committee at some point, but she is not prepared to speak in front of them this upcoming Monday like previously announced.
