The 2019 Metro Athletic Conference All-Conference Football Team was recently announced, with LHS having seven First-Team players and two Honorable Mentions. RHS had the most players put for All-Conference at a total of 10 players, but LHS followed up in second with nine total players. The players make the team by being nominated by their coaches for outstanding performance on the field, and then are reviewed by a committee.

First-Team

  • Alex Oppold, OL/DL, SR
  • Johnathan Smith, OL/DL, SR
  • Sam Siegel, DB, SR
  • Mitch Eichacker, DL, SR
  • Hunter Merkley, WR, SR
  • Tyler Hiatt, OL, SR
  • Ayden Sand, LB, SR

Honorable Mentions

  • Isaac Sarbacker, DL, SR
  • Tommy Thompson, QB, JR

Tyler Hiatt, OL, SR, senior, was put for the First-Team, and it means a lot to him because it shows how his hard-work from the off-season paid off.

“To be selected for the Metro Conference Football Team means that the coaches view these players as the best on the field and in the classroom,” said Hiatt. “I believe I was selected because I helped anchor the offensive line and lead other kids to become better athletes.”

Alongside Hiatt, Sam Siegel, DB, SR, senior was selected based off of his hard-work and the big impact he made on his team. He gave a 101 percent for every single play and was able to perfect his cut tackles.

“It means a lot, especially my senior year,” said Siegel. “It is because I am a beast, and I everyone out there is my son. I am humble.”
