With Spring on the horizon, the seniors of LHS are starting to think about Prom. This year, the dance falls on Saturday, April 25.

Grand March is almost like the fashion show of prom. It is an opening ceremony where students walk across the stage in the auditorium, arm in arm, through elaborate decorations and a crowd of family and friends that are watching. This year, the Grand March starts at 5p.m., and participants need to check-in by 4:30p.m. If a student has bought a ticket to prom, the Grand March is built into that cost. However, the cost of entree for friends and family is $5 a person at the door. A child five-years-old or younger gets in free.

After the Grand March, most students take pictures, eat dinner and then arrive at El Riad Shrine, 510 S Phillips Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. The class officers have been busy planning prom and can not wait for the students to experience it.

“I think it’ll be awesome just because it’s kind of the last big thing for seniors before they graduate,” said senior Chase Helland, the Class President.

The Prom theme this year is the “Roaring 20s,” with the theme colors being black and gold.

“The theme is the Roaring 20s, and I think it should be pretty sweet! We’re getting a cardboard car,” said Helland.

Prom and the Senior Party are the last major events the class of 2020 will partake in. For some students, this is a relief, while others are soaking in the last moments. Either way, the class officers are hoping to see everyone at Prom.

“Tailgating starts at 2:30 on April 25,” said Helland jokingly.
