What is a Super Bowl without the halftime show? Well, in this case, it would be PG. With Shakira and Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) definitely tearing up the stage, they left their audience of 102 million people in shock.

Although they left out a disclaimer for young children, the halftime show was quite entertaining. On Feb. 2, 2020, the 54th annual Super Bowl kick-started the halftime show with Shakira performing many of her hit singles. Singing songs such as “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Waka Waka” and many more, she sure kept the crowd engaged. Shakira’s hips definitely did not lie during this high energy performance and J.Lo kept the same spirit up in her time on the stage.

J.Lo never fails to make an entrance, and this show was no exception. Coming down on a pole, singing a top hit, “Waiting for Tonight,” she certainly lived up to Shakira’s performance. With countless outfit changes and the vigorous background dancers, these Latina ladies shook up the stage in Miami; not to mention Shakira’s up-close, tongue-flip at the camera, which has millions laughing at the endless memes made from it. J.Lo’s daughter, Emme Maribel Muñiz, also joined her mom in singing “Let’s Get Loud” on stage.

Fans were quite disappointed in last year’s performance, featuring Travis Scott, Maroon 5 and Big Boy, due to a lack of energetic vibes, but no one is complaining about that this year. Many other celebrities had positive views on this year’s turn out as well.

“So much raw energy and talent blessed that stage tonight. Legendary. I look up to you both so much,” tweeted Fergie.

Bad Bunny and J Balvin were other artists that made an appearance on center stage, but no one stole the spotlight from Shakira and J.Lo. An electrifying duo for the halftime show was just what Americans needed to keep the party alive during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
