“Night of the Creeps” was released to theaters in 1986, and it was released internationally in the following year.

Night of the Creeps

First is “Night of the Creeps,” which is a delightful combination of the slasher, alien invasion and zombie subgenres. In “Night of the Creeps,” aliens accidentally launched a canister on a course to eventually reach Earth. When it reaches a man on Earth 27 years later, a small slug-like creature leaps out of it and into his mouth. Unfortunately, this man is soon killed by an axe murderer. The former’s body remains housed as a cadaver in a university lab, until two students, on a dare, unthaw it. The corpse grabs the students, who run away as fast as possible. The slug-like creatures, starting from the cadaver, replicate across the university campus, zombifying their victims. “Night of the Creeps” is the epitome of a B-movie, with its memorable characters and dynamic yet risible plot. The whole movie was actually meant to be a parody, with its characters’ names being homages to famous horror directors. Director Fred Dekker intentionally included every B-movie trope he could. And that is all in a script that was written in only a week!
