Tom Holland has been the new Spider-Man since 2016 when he was first seen in “Captain America: Civil War.”

“Spider-Man No Way Home” came out right in time to wrap up 2021 successfully, as it was released on Dec. 17, 2021. This is the 3rd Spider-Man movie released with Tom Holland as Spider-Man and majority of MARVEL fans can agree that Holland and the franchise did not disappoint.

Preceding this recent release were Holland’s two other Spider-Man movies: “Far from Home” and “Homecoming,” that both include his real-life girlfriend Zendaya who is also portrayed as his girlfriend within the films. At the beginning of the films, Zendaya’s role started out smaller, as one of Peter Parker’s classmates, then evolved into a love interest and over time developed into the superhero’s girlfriend. Not only does she fill the shoes of a girlfriend in “Spider-Man No Way Home,” but she also has a role in helping him in all aspects of his superhero tasks.

This 2 hour and 28-minute film opens up with Peter Parker’s (Spider-Man) identity being revealed and follows the path of his need to change the current circumstances to make everyone forget his true identity. Not only does his identity being revealed hurt his image and future; it affects important people in his life like his Aunt May played by Marisa Tomei, best friend Ned played by Jacob Batalon and girlfriend MJ played by Zendaya. In hopes of solving the big mess he has been handed, Parker reports to Dr. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, to help him go back in time to change the exposing of his identity. Unfortunately, without the time stone destroyed in “Avengers: Infinity War,” it is not possible to go back in time to better the current circumstances.

However, Dr. Strange knows of a last resort and decides to take a chance on Parker by using a spell to make everyone forget Parker is Spider-Man. This spell backfires as Parker continues to change the spell mid-cast to the point where it cannot be contained. The spell now calls everyone who knows that Parker is Spider-Man to Earth. This includes other Spider-Mans and many villains in which the Spider-Mans have defeated in the past individually. Now with villains being called to Earth, Parker and whoever else is willing to help needs to figure out how to send them home or change the villains for the better.

Not only is the film filled with phenomenal acting, it’s effects and true to life portrayal of the characters and their powers will intrigue almost anyone even if one is not the biggest MARVEL fan. The plot keeps engagement and has a storyline that new fans can follow and still enjoy. My best advice for someone choosing to go to “Spider-Man: No Way Home” would be to bring a long attention span and for sure a box of tissues.
