With the 2022 LHS baseball season right around the corner, many players are anxiously waiting for it to start.

Baseball season is almost here and everyone is excited. For many seniors, this season is going to be bittersweet but they are hoping to make the best of it. Seniors Luke Glanzer and Oscar Lockwood-Powell are excited for the season, but when they graduate, there are many aspects of LHS baseball that they will miss.

“I’m going to miss the players that I have learned to play with and grow with over the last four years,” said Lockwood-Powell.

Opinions on the season can vary from teammate to teammate. Some players are very positive going into the season and think that they have improved from last year.

“This season I’d say that we have the talent to go all the way, they just have to put the pieces together,” said Glanzer.

Other players have different expectations about this season. While some players are very positive, others are going into it with an open mindset.

“I’m just staying clear minded going in, not expecting anything,” said Lockwood-Powell.

There are many different things to look forward to during the baseball season. Being outdoors with friends and playing the game one enjoys most is a big reason why players love baseball so much.

“My favorite part is probably just spending time with the boys while also swinging the lumber around,” said Lockwood-Powell.

Some students may be on the fence about trying out for the baseball team, or any sport for that matter, but it is advised to get out of one’s comfort zone.

“I would say that you just need to take the risk and go for it, it will be scary at first but the team always welcomes new faces,” said Lockwood-Powell.

Sports are a great way to connect with fellow students and create bonds that one can cherish beyond graduation. Regardless of how the season turns out, the seniors will be grateful for the time that they were able to spend with their teammates.
