Across the world, Cinderella is the most popular princess, being the favorite in 76 countries

Disney princesses are beloved around the world, but some are better than others. I will be ranking Disney princesses based on my personal opinion of them.

Mulan:
Starting off strong with Mulan, who is the best princess. Mulan values family and goes to war to save her father. Although she is an underdog, she is hardworking and comes out on top. Mulan not only wins a war disguised as a man but then proceeds to save the emperor of China and wins the heart of her captain while doing so. I love that she doesn’t just sit around trying to find a husband and is her own person. Mulan is the best due to her strength, work ethic, bravery and other great qualities. She is a great role model to little kids across the world.
Merida:
The story of this princess is not a conventional love story, as it is not between two partners, but rather a story of family and mending broken relationships. Merida is my second favorite princess because in a world where she was expected to allow men to compete for her hand in marriage, she competes for her own hand. Not only is she successful in this, but she outshines everyone else and she does it in a dress. She goes on to have a quirky, strange movie that is interesting to watch and heartwarming at the end.

Tiana:
The third place goes to the girl turned frog, turned princess. Tiana is a great princess because she has a good work ethic, knows what she wants and doesn’t sit around waiting for men to save her. She values her family and for the most part makes good decisions, except for kissing a frog.
Cinderella:
I did not plan on having Cinderella this high on the list, as number four, but she deserves it. The movie “Cinderella” may not seem like a great movie since it is just a girl who dances with a prince, but it is much more than that. The movie “Cinderella” shows that you do not always have to save yourself, but that it’s okay to let others help you when you need it. Cinderella was in a situation where she was being used, and she got out of the situation through true love. I wanted to see her save herself, but it’s still a good example for children to see that getting help from others is alright.
Belle:
Number five goes to Belle. In “Beauty and the Beast,” Belle exhibits selflessness to the extent of sacrificing herself to save her family. Although that may be taking it too far, I still think that selflessness is a good quality to have. Belle is also quite smart since she reads so much, which is a great example to young girls, reminding them that girls are just as smart and capable as boys.

Jasmine:
Jasmine is in sixth place because she is a pretty good princess. Her good qualities include compassion, boldness, intelligence, strength and confidence. Jasmine fought for her right to rule her kingdom as a female and she did that using all of her skills. She is also this high on the list because it is cool she has a pet tiger. Young watchers can look up to Jasmine because she is a good example of fighting for what you believe in.
Aurora:
Better known as Sleeping Beauty, Aurora is in seventh place. Honestly, the only reason she is this high on my list is because I love that the movie is named after how beautiful she is and that she only says 18 lines the whole movie. I mean, how cool is that? She barely even does anything except sleep and the movie was still named after her. Aside from this, I think Aurora sets a bad example for young watchers because she has no sense of stranger danger when she dances with a random man in the woods. Not only is that a bad idea, but it is very unsafe. Aurora got lucky that he was a prince, but that is not normally what happens when you go with a stranger into the woods.

Rapunzel:
In my opinion, Rapunzel is a plain princess, so she is in eighth place. She has many specialized talents, so she is well-rounded in all sorts of activities, along with being well-read. Overall, her story is predictable and although she is smart, I think people just like her movie because it’s comforting and you can always predict what will happen next. She is a mediocre role model considering she snuck out of her house and ran away.

Moana:
The movie “Moana” reminds me of the movie “Life of Pi” by Ang Lee. Moana is in ninth place because I personally think Moana got on a boat and went crazy on the ocean, making the whole entire movie part of her imagination. However, her good qualities include bravery, problem-solving and resiliency. She is a good role model because she shows that you have to work to make a change, you can’t just sit back and wait for it to happen.

Snow White:
Snow White is in 10th place because her whole story creeps me out and she’s not the brightest. She not only runs away into the forest and trespasses, but she also takes food from strangers. Snow White is a terrible role model for children and the whole movie is full of suspicious happenings.
Ariel:
This movie is in last place at number 11. There is so much wrong with this movie that it’s hard to find a place to start. She gives up her voice for a man, makes deals with an unsafe character, leaves her family for a man who doesn’t even know her and abuses her friendships with Sebastian and Flounder. She also sings a whole song about wanting more stuff while she dances around in her room full of stuff no one else in the ocean has. To add to all of this, in the true Grimm Brothers Little Mermaid story, she doesn’t even get the man but instead turns into seafoam for the rest of her existence. This movie is a horrible example to anyone, regardless of age, and overall is the worst princess movie. Its only redeeming quality is the song “Kiss the Girl” because of how catchy it is.
