“Good morning, Patriots.”  The sound that is heard every day over the intercom as students are fighting to stay awake. This announcement is heard during the time that most LHS students would still most likely be sleeping if it were not for school. So, the real question is: what time did they wake up? Is there a reason for their exhaustion? Some students may have a more complex morning routine, while others wake up, throw on joggers and make their way to school.

Addy Meyer:

Freshman Addy Meyer wakes up at 6:30 a.m. every morning.

“I get up slowly, comb my hair, and brush my teeth,” said Meyer. “I pick out an outfit and make sure everything is all done. Most days I have a pretty good idea of what I want to wear, but sometimes I check the weather just to make sure.

Meyer chooses to make herself breakfast depending on what kind of mood she is in. Some days, she goes to school without anything to eat.

“Most days, it depends if I’m in a good mood to make myself some breakfast, but I usually skip. Some mornings, I just grab a smoothie,” said Meyer.

Meyer catches a ride to school with her friend, who comes around 7:45 a.m.

“I sit in my living room waiting for my friend to pick me up. My friend and I arrive at school and check ourselves in. Then, we walk in together to the girls locker room to put our volleyball bags in our lockers. We bring our bags to our first period class,” said Meyer.

She enjoys walking the halls with her friends until the first bell rings at 8:15.

“By this time, we are united with our friend group and walk the halls until the first bell at 8:15,” said Meyer.

Josh Myers:

Sophomore Josh Meyers wakes up for school at 7:25 a.m. every morning. His routine is more laid back than others.

“I wake up at 7:25 and then take a shower,” said Myers.

He then listens to music and takes a nap in the shower.

“I listen to music and lay in shower and take a little nap,” said Myers. “I clean my ears, brush my teeth for like 5 minutes then I put on cologne and deodorant. Then, I put an outfit on because I don’t want toothpaste on my clothes. Then I leave to go to school at 8:02. When I get to school I go to the lunch room and chill for a bit.”
