Stanley tumblers have a narrow base to fit in car cup holders.

Big, colorful scarves and long coats: As the weather gets colder, everyone has to start bundling up, and that means fashionable coats. This year, trench coats in camel color, with long rainbow scarves are what is popular. This not only is warm, but it also accentuates any outfit. The rainbow scarves match any outfit due to all the colors. These stylish coats and scarves help keep the Statesman staff warm during the dreaded South Dakota winter.

Vests: similar to most modern-day trends, puffer vests have come back for the 80s and can help add texture to any ordinary outfit. Not only are they cute additions to outfits, but they help conserve heat. The Statesman loves these vests because the statesman are fashionable writers and the statesman staff live in a cold state.

Stanley cups: When writing for long periods of time, Statesman staff tend to get dehydrated. A Stanley cup is a stylish, efficient and practical way to stay hydrated. These colorful water bottles are made of stainless steel, so they keep beverages cold for the entirety of writing great stories. Although there are many competitors, most don’t fit in cup holders, this is what makes Stanley cups a little bit better than other water bottles.

Layered jewelry and pearl jewelry: Jewelry adds extra flair to any attire. Regardless of stacked rings, layered necklaces or many earrings, the Statesman staff are here for it. To add to that, if it is pearl jewelry, it is even better. Many writers in the Statesman like this trend because it allows for our outfits to be brought to the next level.

SZA’s new album: The Statesman enjoys SZA’s new album because it makes for great background music when writing. Her melodies really set the tone to get work done. The writers’ favorite song of hers is “Snooze” because it is a smooth beat and helps with focus.

Birkenstock Boston clogs and UGG: The Boston clogs are a Statesman favorite.
“They’re cute!” said Editor-in-Chief, Sarah Bombhoff. Another popular shoe trend are the UGG ultra mini boots and UGG Tasman slippers. These shoes are comfortable, warm and adorable perfect for any cold day.

Rizz: Rizz is the ability to flirt with someone and be smooth about it. The made-up word stems from the actual word charisma. Some people have more rizz than others. Some ways to describe people with rizz are “The rizzard of oz,” “has a Ph.D. in rizzenomics,” “A rizzly bear,” “The declaration of rizzependance,” “Walt Rizzney” and “Mike Rizzoski.” Many of the statesmen staff have lots of rizz.

Claw clips: Many staff members use claw clips to pull back their hair when writing amazing stories. These clips work well to pull back your hair without leaving a crease in your hair as a ponytail does. They also come in many colors, so there is one for every outfit.

T-shirt with turtleneck shirts: This is a Statesman favorite because with the cold South Dakota weather, this adds a layer of warmth. This also adds a little extra something to every outfit and t-shirt.

Curtain bangs: This haircut is by far the most popular at the moment. This darling hairstyle is lovable because it’s fairly low maintenance, all that is needed to style it is a roller on the bangs. Some of the statesman staff wear their hair in a bun, to make the front pieces hang out and look extra studious. This haircut is low maintenance, sweet and fun.
