A gesture of appreciation

Of all the jobs in the world, teachers have arguably one of the most important jobs in our modern society. They teach and help shape the next generation. Without them, we would not be where we are today.
Because of all they do for us, it is important to show them how much we appreciate them. A great way to do this is by giving gifts, because who does not love gifts? The only problem with this approach is that gift-giving can be pretty challenging when you do not know what to get someone. Well, do not worry because I have compiled a list of things that teachers at LHS would love to receive from their students.
First up is gift cards. Gift cards are an easy, yet effective way of showing gratitude towards teachers. If you are thinking about getting teachers gift cards, maybe ask what type of places they like to go. For example, Alicia Klaassen, a math teacher at LHS prefers gift cards to coffee shops, but other teachers like Shawn Bogart, an English teacher at LHS, appreciate gift cards to bookstores or online stores. No matter what, you cannot go wrong with a gift card.
Another thing to get your teachers would be food, whether it be sweets like chocolate or something a little more savory.
“Some teachers are more partial to salty snacks. I personally am not one of those but I know that there’s a lot of them,” says Bogart.
Other teachers are a little more straightforward with what they like to receive from students.
“I want straight cash homie,” said Brian Bechard, a science teacher at LHS.
Cash is also a great option when you don’t know where teachers like to shop or what they like. There is no guesswork when it comes to cash.
Lastly, if you do not necessarily want to spend money or do not have money to spend, writing a nice sincere note is an amazing way to show your appreciation. You can write a card expressing how much your teachers have helped you and impacted your life. Sometimes writing a heartfelt note to your teacher can mean more than any material gift you would give them.
As little as it may seem, giving little gifts and gestures of appreciation to teachers can really make a difference and brighten their day.
“It keeps us going,” said Bogart.
