The Cattitude Café is a small business that can be found in downtown Sioux Falls where the staff serves food while the customers can engage with cats.
The area for food is separate from where people play with the cats; this setup helps keep the environment clean. The café allows children above the age of 12 to pick up the cats and hold them. Anyone under this age is only able to pet them. Most of the cats in the enclosed space are from the Sioux Falls humane society; therefore, the visitors are able to adopt the cats.
Immediately when we walked into the café, we were greeted by employees welcoming us in. They offered food before our reservation to play with the cats and proceeded to show us where the cats were enclosed. After we ate, numerous cats strode towards us, showing their companionship and willingness to play. The enclosed space was filled with cat trees, toys and wall decor that the cats are able to crawl on and into. The toys were put away and the floor was freshly swept. The employees appeared to be constantly cleaning due to the fact that there was no cat hair on any cushions or chairs. The environment of the Cattitude Café was tremendously welcoming and an overall positive experience.
The menu at the Cattitude Café consists of multiple items ranging from lunch to small snacks to tide over. We ordered the strawberry banana smoothie and the chocolate cupcake. The strawberry banana smoothie was chunky and had some ice bits every once in a while. Overall, the smoothie was favorable, and it would be worth ordering again. The chocolate cupcake was decorated to resemble a cat; the cupcake tasted as if it was the box mix, and the frosting was a thick buttercream. The cat cupcake was served cold, and I would recommend the cupcake to anyone who would want a simple flavorful treat.
My overall opinion of that Cattitude Café is that the surroundings of the café are exceedingly positive and hospitable. On the other hand, the food was not worth the money. The food tasted bland, offering nothing different than something at a convenience store. However, the employees seemed happy to be there, which makes the environment more positive. Almost all of the cats are thrilled to be there and love to be pet and held. All in all, I will be revisiting the Cattitude Café again, simply because of the joyous atmosphere.
