One of the biggest decisions one has to make in life is deciding what college to go to. According to BestColleges.com, “there are nearly 6,000 colleges and universities in the U.S.,” which makes this decision very difficult. Here are some factors to consider and tips on how to choose the college best for you.
Factors:
- The mascot
Mascots are the identity of a school. It represents the school’s values and pride. That being said, mascots are a huge factor to consider because it would be very bad to end up with a lame school mascot. For example, Xavier University is the Blue Blob. I am not even kidding. Syracuse University is Otto the Orange. Instead, choose something cool, such as a tiger at Tennessee State University.
- The school colors
It is essential to pick a school with appealing colors. These colors will be all over campus and at every sports event you attend, so it is important to choose colors you can tolerate looking at.
- The gear
When you visit the college you go to, make sure they have a large selection of cute gear to choose from. Indiana University, and other colleges, have pants with long stripes, which are not very appealing to look at. The gear also has to do with how good the school colors are. It would be a disaster if you had to wear the color you look worst in.
Of course, location and cost are important factors to consider as well, but these are much more important.
Tips:
- Stalk your crush
You know that one crush you have? You know who I am talking about. Find out where they are going to college and just go there. Then you will have a chance of “bumping into” them on campus and then the love story will unfold from there.
- Let fate decide
If picking out a college is too stressful, just choose one randomly. You could set up a map of the U.S. and throw a dart at it to decide what state to go to. You could also go to the college that wins the March Madness (Men’s or Women’s, you can choose) bracket.
- Just don’t go
College is not for everyone. Sometimes our purpose is to just ride the waves of life. I mean, who actually wants to go to more school after just graduating from 12 years of school? Degrees are not that important anyway.
Hopefully, this guide on how to choose what college to go to helps you make your decision.
