The most popular time Americans decorate for Christmas is the week after Thanksgiving. The other Americans that don’t decorate after Thanksgiving decorate Nov. or Dec. 1. Some think Nov. 1 is too early, and some think Dec. 1 is too late. Everyone has a different idea of when the perfect time to decorate is.
I think it’s not too early to decorate for Christmas. I think the earliest you can decorate is Nov. 1. Before then it is too early. Another time that would be acceptable is after Thanksgiving. Dec. 1 is too late. By the time you get to December, you should already have all your Christmas decorations up, because then you can enjoy the whole month in a house that feels like a winter wonderland. If you put them up in December you have less time to enjoy the decorations and holiday spirit in your home because it will be time to take it all down in a month. The Christmas decor should be up to enjoy for longer than only one month.
I put my Christmas decor up in my room at the beginning of November. Some years it is the first week of November and some it is the second. I also helped my mom put up the big Christmas tree in the living room. Usually, we put the tree up first and go from there. Our tree is 12 feet tall, so it takes a while to decorate. Christmas is my favorite time of the year so I go all out. I have 18 little trees around my room, a book tree and a big tree. I also love to decorate my window with Christmas stickers. Decorating for Christmas is so magical and gets me into the Christmas spirit. The beginning of November is the best time to decorate because it gets you in the Christmas spirit early. You should also get Christmas decorations in November because that is when everything is on sale.
LHS student Gabe Berg loves Christmas and doesn’t think it is too early to decorate. “No, it’s not too early [to decorate for Christmas].” I don’t know anyone else who decorates as early as he does. “[I decorated my room on] Oct. 19, way before Halloween. I love Christmas. [I put] my Christmas tree [up first].” Berg’s favorite decorations to put up are in his room. “[Do I only decorate my room? No, I decorate] the whole house. I decorate [my chinchilla] Reggies’ cage and put up my tree [in my room].”
On the other hand, there’s LHS student Sammy Roche who thinks it’s too early to decorate for Christmas. Roche doesn’t hate Christmas, he just doesn’t think Christmas decor should be set up until after Thanksgiving. “[I decorate for Christmas] after Thanksgiving.” “[What do I put up first?] Probably the tree.” He also isn’t much of a decorator. “I don’t decorate. Well, I don’t, [my family does. I help decorate] the tree and my house.”
Christmas is most American’s favorite time of the year and everyone decorates at different times. People have different traditions and different schedules which play a role in when they can decorate for Christmas. Overall, everyone decorates at different times and it doesn’t matter when; it just matters that you have fun and you love how it turns out.
