On Nov. 1, the Avera McKennan Fitness Center announced that it would merge with GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Club, effective Dec. 1, 2024. The news surprised many members, especially since the Avera McKennan leadership team has successfully guided the fitness center for 27 years.
“Avera McKennan leadership arrived at this decision in response to changes in the fitness industry and consumer preferences,” from Avera McKennan Fitness. The decision reflects a growing demand for more wellness offerings and a commitment to staying ahead of trends in the fitness world.
The Avera McKennan Fitness Center, located at 41st and Southeastern in Sioux Falls, will be renamed the Avera McKennan Fitness Center and GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Club. The location will continue to serve its community, with outpatient physical therapy services remaining on-site. The building will serve the needs of these patients and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Current Avera McKennan Fitness members are encouraged to sign up for a GreatLIFE membership before their Avera membership expires on Nov. 30. Signing up early will ensure that members gain access to all GreatLIFE facilities and benefits. Representatives from GreatLIFE will be at Avera McKennan to answer questions during the month of November to provide additional details about the transition and help make the process as smooth as possible.
