
As the school year comes to an end and summer approaches, LHS students are starting their summer jobs. Sioux Falls provides many job opportunities for high school students. LHS students use this opportunity to its fullest. They find a job to stay busy, they need/want money, the experience, an escape, for perks or just for fun. For some students, summer is not an open door to endless relaxation, it means hard work and long hours.

1. The nail boutique on 57th as a receptionist.

3. So far, yes. I like all of my coworkers, and I work with one of my close friends. It is such a nice space with a fun, cozy atmosphere.

1. YMCA Leif Ericson Day Camp.
2. This summer will make it two years.
3. Yes! It’s fun, flexible, you make lots of friends, extremely friendly staff and just a really awesome job.
4. Working with the campers. It brings me great joy to hang out with them and make their day.
5. No, not to everyone. Being a camp counselor is not an easy task. You have to have the right skill set, attitude, character, capabilities, patience and appreciation for many things. It’s hard working with kids.

2. This is my second year working there.
3. I think it’s a fun job. I get to meet celebrities. The schedule is super flexible and my coworkers are fun to work with.

3. Yes! It’s super flexible with hours, and you get to learn a lot about fish and animals.
4. My favorite part of work is probably being able to buy fish every week and getting to see dogs come in all the time.
5. I would recommend working there if you are a hard worker because you do have to carry around 25 to 30 pounds daily, and do regular job things as well.

1. I’m going to nanny two girls [who are] seven and 10 over the summer.
2. This is my first year with this family.
3. I love kids, and their age is a fun age because you can do a lot of things with them, so I think it will be fun.
4. Both of the kids seem really sweet, so just getting to be with them for the summer will be fun.
5. If you like kids, then yes.
