As the leaves are falling and the temperature is dropping, it is time to get into the fall spirit. Whether you are in the mood for apple picking, pumpkin painting, a corn maze or a haunted house, Sioux Falls has a variety of events to give you the best fall experience.
Terror 29: Terror 29 is offering three haunted events this year. The first is the classic Terror 29 Haunted House. If you are looking for a good scare, you have definitely found the right place because this haunted house is considered the scariest in South Dakota. It is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in October. The next event offered by Terror 29 is the Trail of Terror at Camp Leif Ericson. This trail takes you through a spooky walk in the woods where every path is filled with fog. This event opens Oct. 10 and will be available on weekends throughout October. The third and final Terror 29 event is the iconic Haunted Corn Maze. The theme is “zombie breakout,” meaning you will be haunted by zombies from all sides while trying to find your way out.
Heartland Country Corn Maze: The Heartland Country Corn Maze is a wonderful way for all ages to enjoy a nice fall afternoon together. This corn maze gives you a map with a list of questions that lead you through ten checkpoints, eventually guiding you to the exit. They are open Aug. 15 through Oct. 26.
Country Apple Orchard Festival: A trip to the Country Apple Orchard will give you the perfect fall day with over 20 attractions to choose from. Not only can you pick apples and visit the pumpkin patch, but they also have a corn maze, tractor rides, food trucks and a petting zoo. Open weekends throughout September and October, the Country Apple Orchard is a great place to add to your fall itinerary.
Fall Frenzy: Hosted by Landscape Garden Centers, this “Fall Frenzy” event will be on Oct. 25 from 12-4 p.m. They will have pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, a scavenger hunt, a bake sale and more.
Riverview Christmas Tree Farm Pumpkin Festival: The Riverview Christmas Tree Farm switches holidays on weekends in October to give you the perfect pumpkin festival experience. With inflatables, train rides, farm animals, pumpkin picking and more, this festival will give you a fun-filled family day.
Fear-ground Haunted House: Another great haunted house option is located at the fairgrounds in Sioux Falls. It is open on various days throughout October, plus it offers Kids’ days. They also have a “blackout night” on Nov. 1.
