Dear fall,
I would say that many overlook you as the best season. I mean, you do come with cooler weather and sometimes snowfall, but you also offer the smell of pumpkin spice and wrapping up in a warm blanket.
The leaves changing color brings a good shift and a fresh start to my mind. The fresh start makes me feel more productive and as if there is a new beginning. Having a fresh start is important because it allows us to approach things in a different way. This can be wearing warmer clothing instead of shorts and a T-shirt, or going back to school and starting activities once again. Some people view change as a bad thing, when in reality, it can be nice and refreshing.

With the colder weather, you bring back the signature fall scents of pumpkin, apple and warm cinnamon. Your well-known menu from Starbucks is released, so my weekly drink runs with friends begin again. Early mornings arise with the competition season kicking into gear, and late-night practices under the big lights are continued. The football season begins, and the stands fill with students waiting for the game to start. The President’s Bowl and Homecoming football games bring the school together to celebrate. The spirit stick gets a new home, and every class chants as loudly as they can, hoping it will be their year to hold it.
The leaves change into different shades of red, orange and yellow, filling the trees with a warm, comforting look, making me excited for the rest of the season to come. I love the crunch of the leaves as they start to fall and cover the sidewalks on my way to school. The days get shorter with the sun setting earlier.
People place pumpkins on their doorstep and scary decorations all over their house and yard to decorate for Halloween. You bring back signature foods such as apple pie, cider and many assortments of tiny candies from Halloween night. Before I know it, Thanksgiving is right around the corner with a variety of food from green bean casserole to the famous turkey. The Macy’s Day Parade is playing on the TV on Thanksgiving morning.
Carving pumpkins, picking apples and decorating for Halloween starts to occupy my schedule. Late-night drives with friends and early car talks before school become the daily routine, and before I know it, you are gone in a flash and the long, cold, dreadful winter starts.
