Now more than ever, it is so incredibly important to recognize what makes us grateful. We need to appreciate who or what lifts us up, rather than focusing on what brings us down. This is how LHS students and staff responded to being asked who they are grateful for and why.
“My non-biological grandparents. They took us in as part of their family. We aren’t that close with my dad’s side, and my mom’s side lives across the world. We are very close with them, and they call my brother and me their grandchildren and my parents their children, even though they have three biological grown kids. We call one of their daughters our aunt, and she thinks of us as her niece and nephew.”
“My mother. I am so grateful for my mother because she is just such a strong woman. She has always been there for me since day one and never pushed me away and always supported me when I doubted myself.”
“My friends, because they have been the most genuine, kind, loving, empathetic, funny, caring and amazing friends I’ve ever had. Seeing them is always the highlight of my school day.”
“LHS Students. I am thankful for the students at LHS that make the difficult job of being a teacher worth it.”
“My mother. She’s the person I aspire to be. She’s hardworking and brilliant.”
“I am the most grateful for Jesus, followed by basically all the other people in my life. I love my family, obviously, but also my friends and youth group leaders. Well, Jesus Christ literally saved my life; He came and died for me and then freaking rose up from the grave and has promised that I will too. Gratitude is the absolute least I can give in return.”
“My parents, siblings and friends because they always push me to be the best version of myself, and I can always count on them.”
“I am grateful for my best friend. She is the most wonderful person anyone could meet. Her attitude and demeanor are extraordinarily positive. Whenever I see her, she puts a smile on my face. I am grateful to call her one of my best friends.”
“My older sisters, because they have both taught me important life lessons and given me great advice. They make everything better and more fun!”
“My mom. She’s always there to help me and always shows others kindness.”
