As the snow starts to fall and the holidays are around the corner, classic holiday movies resurface. “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Christmas Vacation,” “A Christmas Story”, “Elf” and many other popular movies are watched each year, while many other movies are forgotten. Here are four underrated Christmas movies that are forgotten about but are a great watch.
The Nightmare Before Christmas – “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is commonly mistaken for a Halloween movie, but in reality, it is a Christmas movie. This animated movie follows the adventure of Jack Skellington, who becomes bored with the same traditions of Halloween. He comes upon Christmastown, which is filled with Christmas traditions of decorating a Christmas tree, baking and giving gifts. The rest of the movie follows Jack Skellington on his journey to bring Christmas joy to Halloween.
Arthur Christmas – “Arthur Christmas” is an animated movie about Santa’s youngest son, Arthur, and how he saved Christmas for a young boy named Tyke. Every Christmas Eve, Santa uses advanced technology to get presents all around the world delivered in just a few hours. Without notice, they seemed to have missed Tyke’s house. It is up to Arthur to get Tyke’s present to him before the sun rises.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” is a classic holiday story about a reindeer with a bright red nose. Because of his nose, the other reindeer make fun of him, so he runs away and finds the misfits. Among the misfits, he meets Hermey, an elf who wants to be a dentist. They go on multiple adventures together. But on Christmas Eve, there is dense fog, and it is up to Rudolph to lead Santa’s sleigh.
Klaus – “Klaus” is an animated story about a spoiled postman named Jesper who was sent to a gloomy town because he was the worst student. When he is there, he meets a toymaker named Klaus. They make toys together, trying to turn the sad, grumpy town into a happy place.
