Monday, Dec. 12 was a big day for Ed Sheeran and his fans, but not for the reasons people may think. This reason has nothing to do with music in general. As many people may know, Sheeran went off the grid from social media for a long, long time. That long time being a year, a literal year down to the exact minute.

Sheeran escaped from Twitter and other social media sites, and seemed to be out of the spotlight for an extended period of time. This may have made some of his fans question his dedication or love for them, but Sheeran seemed to think it was necessary for himself to go on a cleanse from the earth and its chaos.

So, on Dec. 12, 2015, he decided to tweet at 10:29 p.m., fans not thinking anything about it, and not letting them know that he would be off Twitter for a year. So a couple days ago, on Dec. 12, 2016, at exactly 10:29 p.m., Sheeran finally tweeted for the first time in EXACTLY one year. Was this planned? Nobody really knows. All that people know is that his fans and a generous amount of his followers were ecstatic about his return. All that he tweeted was a picture of a blue square, and he totalled up 191,000 likes and 90,400 retweets. Twitter seemed to have been awaiting for his arrival for a year.

Many still question why he went on this break, if there was one reason or if he just wanted to take a timeout from the craziness that comes along with living life as a celebrity.
